Has your camera resolution hit the Gigabit Ethernet Barrier?
Standard Gigabit Ethernet cameras do not process any of the data at the camera so they are limited by how much resolution can be sent between the camera and the processing computers that show the images to the operator. This resolution barrier is 1.7 million pixels at 60 frames per second. Unless the camera can compress the images at the camera – there is no way to send more resolution across the camera backbone.
This is where ECS Smart Flex provides the answer. Our software is designed to accept several types of camera standards (and mix them in the same system). The newest technology platform are off the shelf cameras that compress and process the information at the camera. These solutions can deliver many times more pixels than standard legacy gigabit cameras.
EXISTING LEGACY GIGABIT ETHERNET CAMERA AND LED
Poor Lighting
Standard GigE - Legacy Camera Technology running at 1200 x 600 pixels at 60 fps
Legacy sensor (CCD) that has low sensitivity to light. Therefore it cannot support proper shutter setting (image is blurry). The gain also has to be set excessively high to compensate. This decreases the signal to noise ratio and produces low quality grainy images
Low quality pixels AND low quantity of pixels (well under 1 megapixel per image)
ECS Smart Camera with existing LED
High resolution with Gen 3 Sony Pregius CMOS camera sensor
Exceptional sensitivity and can operate with existing low output LED
High sensor sensitivity allows the iris to be closed down to create complete focus across the sheet (depth of field)
No gain required
Higher resolution - 2K x 2K pixels (4 megapixel at 60 images per second)
Exceptional stop action clarity (low exposure setting)
