What is RetroSpek™
RetroSpek™ is a single or multiple camera system that records both high frame rate and high resolution video to one or more computers. This video is used for real-time viewing and later review to determine and reduce production line downtime. RetroSpek™ utilizes the industry standard GigE camera open platform which eliminates the need for any proprietary or custom computer hardware. Key to our approach is that all systems no matter how complex use the same simple building blocks: GigE cameras connected with standard Ethernet cables to off-the-shelf computers. This creates highly scalable systems with minimal total cost of ownership.
How it works
Real-time video is sent from a GigE camera via an Ethernet cable to a computer that is using software compression to store the video to the computer hard drive. Frame rate and resolution will depend on the type of camera used. The video is constantly buffered and when an event/process disruption occurs the user will simply select the marker for the event to review pre and post video. If there is not an input trigger to the system that indicates that a process disruption has occurred – the user simply scrubs the timeline to find the process anomaly. The RetroSpek™ system can also monitor the incoming images and trigger an event based on gray scale imaging. In this way the system can determine a change of processing condition and mark that time for later review. Images or video can be easily extracted from the system for review on any Microsoft Media Player. Complete system control is also available via remote desktop from any computer via a network connection.
